Radio dramas marked the Golden Age of Rádio Nacional
Listen to the second episode of the special series produced by our International Radio Service

In the 1940s and 1950s, Rádio Nacional had the power to simultaneously mobilize the population with its diverse programming, all while Brazil was experiencing the Golden Age of broadcasting.
Music was central to the station's schedule, but radio soap operas were the primary drivers of its massive audience.
In 1941, Rádio Nacional launched "Em busca da felicidade"—the country's first radio soap opera—a resounding success that paved the way for hundreds of other stories. The pinnacle came in 1951 with "O Direito de Nascer", a drama that captivated Brazil on an unprecedented scale.
In this second episode of the series marking Rádio Nacional's 90th anniversary, you will relive the success of radio dramas during the Golden Age of Brazilian broadcasting.
